Topic/Category: Installation

Ephesoft Version: All Versions

Issue: Installation has database issues. I need to troubleshoot connection, db username and db password.

Since ephesoft is connecting to an external database system, it is often easier to troubleshoot connectivity to that external environment by using a generic sql database manager.

Take the db connection connection name, username, password and port number from the various location that Ephesoft stores this information, plug them into a generic sql database connection manager and test. Adjust and troubleshoot as necessary – you may need to configure your db environment or change the settings as they were written in the ephesoft config files to correct any issues. Settings that work in heidi, will work if connection values are properly plugged into Ephesoft config files.

For various versions of ephesoft, DB settings may be located:

[Ephesoft Installation Folder]\Application\WEB-INF\classes\META-INF\dcma-data-access\dcma-db.properties

[Ephesoft Installation Folder]\Application\WEB-INF\classes\META-INF\dcma-performance-reportingdcma-report-db.properties

[Ephesoft Installation Folder]\Application\WEB-INF\classes\META-INF\dcma-reporting\etl-variables.properties

[Ephesoft Installation Folder]\Application\WEB-INF\classes\META-INF\dcma-data-access\dcma-db.properties

[Ephesoft Installation Folder]\EphesoftReports\_Definitions\_Settings.lgx

[Ephesoft Installation Folder]\JavaAppServer\conf

A copy of Heidi is located in [Ephesoft Installation Folder]\\Dependencies\HeidiSQL

For example, in 4030, if the following values on left side are correct, if used with Heidi, they will connect successfully.:

If your external database uses a Named Instance, alter connection string slightly by adding the instance variable to the string
