KB0012936 – Error During Folder Import: “Exception in breaking the input file”

Issue

The following error occurs during the Folder Import Module:

“Exception in breaking the input file. Converted Tiff files count not equal to the TIFF pages count.”

Root Cause

This error may occur if your files exceed the max file path length. The max file path length varies by the engine:

  • RecoStar: 255 characters
  • Ghostscript: 238 characters

If the character limit is exceeded, the batch will fail.

Solution

If you are unable to manually adjust the file length, you can change the PDF to TIFF Conversion Process to RecoStar, which has a higher limit.

  1. From the Batch Class Management screen, select your batch class and click Open.
  2. Go to Modules > Folder Import > IMPORT_MULTIPAGE_FILES.
  3. Change the PDF to TIFF Conversion Process from Ghostscript to RecoStar.
