Some users may need to encrypt the connection to a database from Ephesoft Transact. To do so, the jtds driver that Transact uses must be updated.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Prerequisites<\/h2>\n

You will need to download the updated driver and extract the JAR file to a temporary location. The driver is available on the Ephesoft Customer Support<\/a> portal Downloads<\/strong> page.<\/p>\n

<\/a>User Instructions<\/h2>\n

Perform the following steps to encrypt the connection to a database.<\/p>\n

  1. \n
      \n
    1. Stop the Transact server.<\/li>\n
    2. Go to [Install_Directory<\/em>]\\Ephesoft\\JavaAppServer\\lib and back up the existing jtds*.jar driver.<\/li>\n
    3. Paste the updated jtds-1.3.1.jar in the directory.<\/li>\n
    4. Go to [Install_Directory<\/em>]\\Ephesoft\\Application\\WEB-INF\\lib and back up the existing jtds*.jar driver.<\/li>\n
    5. Paste the updated jtds-1.3.1.jar in the directory.<\/li>\n
    6. If updating the connection for Transact databases, go to [Install_Directory<\/em>]\\Ephesoft\\JavaAppServer\\conf and edit the server.xml file. Add the following to all available connection strings in JNDI resources:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      encrypt=true;trustServerCertificate=true;ssl=require<\/pre>\n
      The complete string should look something like this:<\/p>\n
      jdbc:jtds:sqlserver:\/\/<servername>;databaseName=<databasename>;encrypt=true;trustServerCertificate=false;hostNameInCertificate=*.database.windows.net;loginTimeout=30;ssl=require<\/pre>\n
      Enable SSL under SQL Server Configuration<\/strong> manager.<\/p>\n

      In the Certificate<\/strong> tab, select a certificate.<\/p>\n

      If updating the connection from the Transact Connection Manager<\/strong>, configure the connection normally and add the following:<\/p>\n
      encrypt=true;trustServerCertificate=true;ssl=require<\/pre>\n
      The complete string should look something like this:<\/p>\n
      jdbc:jtds:sqlserver:\/\/<servername>;databaseName=<databasename>;encrypt=true;trustServerCertificate=false;hostNameInCertificate=*.database.windows.net;loginTimeout=30;ssl=require<\/pre>\n
