To integrate with Nuance, you will need to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/features-and-functions\/administrator\/moduleplugin-configuration\/extraction-module\/nuance-extraction-plugin\/\">Nuance Extraction plugin<\/a>. These instructions are intended for Transact administrators.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-31840-_2kvd0tqvxo5i\"><\/a>Overview<\/h2>\n<p>The NUANCE_EXTRACTION_PLUGIN is part of the Extraction module. You can use the NUANCE_EXTRACTION_PLUGIN to extract:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Text data<\/li>\n<li>Checkbox data<\/li>\n<li>OCR form data<\/li>\n<li>Hand-written data<\/li>\n<li>Barcode data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also use the NUANCE_EXTRACTION_PLUGIN to extract data in multiple languages. Data extraction through Nuance happens with the help of template files (TLZ). These template files are created using the <strong>Nuance Form Template Editor<\/strong> application installed on Windows systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Only non-cursive handwritten extraction is supported.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-31840-_3znysh7\"><\/a>Installing Nuance Form Template Editor<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Nuance Form Template Editor<\/strong> executable is packaged with the Ephesoft Linux installer and can be found at <em>[Ephesoft_Directory]<\/em>\/Application\/native\/Nuance.<\/p>\n<p>Install the <strong>Nuance Form Template Editor<\/strong> on a Windows system. In a later section, you will add the template created through this editor to the NUANCE_EXTRACTION_PLUGIN in a Linux environment.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-31840-_2et92p0\"><\/a>Activating Nuance Form Template Editor<\/h2>\n<p>After you have installed the <strong>Nuance Form Template Editor<\/strong>, you will need to activate the license.<\/p>\n<p>You can activate the <strong>Nuance Form Template Editor<\/strong> using the <strong>Nuance Licensing Tool<\/strong> both online and offline. The following sections provide you a brief overview of online and offline activation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>If you receive the error &#8220;The server couldn&#8217;t activate license&#8221;, refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/nuance-form-template-editor-license-activation-error-48\/\">Nuance Form Template Editor License Activation Error 48<\/a> for troubleshooting.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-31840-_1loaugnlgw1u\"><\/a>Online Activation<\/h2>\n<p>Perform the following steps to activate the <strong>Nuance Form Template Editor <\/strong>online.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch the <strong>Nuance Licensing Tool <\/strong>from the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" class=\"wp-image-48068\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/image1-1.png\" alt=\"Image1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/image1-1.png 800w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/image1-1-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/image1-1-768x480.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 1. Nuance Licensing Tool<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If the<strong> Nuance Licensing Tool<\/strong> is able to successfully communicate with the Nuance Licensing Server, the licenses found in the license store will display. It also displays the Hardware Fingerprint (HWFP) of your development system.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Click <strong>File<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Download <\/strong>to select and download the license file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: If you have already downloaded the license file to this system through the<strong> Nuance Licensing Tool<\/strong>, select the downloaded license file.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Click <strong>Functions<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Activate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Upon successful activation, the relevant <strong>Activation Date <\/strong>will display. <strong>Expiration Date <\/strong>is displayed only if you have a temporary license.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-31840-_e524dn9carn8\"><\/a>Offline Activation<\/h2>\n<p>If your system does not have internet access, you can download and activate the license manually. Offline Activation (cont)<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>Follow the instructions on that page.<\/li>\n<li>Download and save the received zipped license files to a portable media, and transfer them to the target system.<\/li>\n<li>Launch the <strong>Nuance Licensing Tool <\/strong>on the target system again.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>File <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Import <\/strong>to import the zipped license files.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Your licenses will display in the <strong>Licenses <\/strong>area of the <strong>Nuance Licensing Tool <\/strong>with the relevant activation dates.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-31840-_a2xh4cftg3ju\"><\/a>Configuring Fixed Form Extraction Using Nuance Template File<\/h2>\n<p>This section describes how to add Nuance template files to Transact.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a template file (TLZ) using the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/features-and-functions\/administrator\/moduleplugin-configuration\/extraction-module\/nuance-extraction-plugin\/nuance-form-template-editor\/\">Nuance Form Template Editor<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the new template file to the following folder:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>[Ephesoft_Directory]<\/em>\\SharedFolders\\<strong><em>&lt;BC ID&gt;<\/em><\/strong>\\fixed-form-extraction\\<strong><em>&lt;your document type&gt;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>From the <strong>Batch Class Management <\/strong>screen, select and open your batch class.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Document Types <\/strong>&gt; <strong><em>&lt;your document type&gt; <\/em><\/strong>&gt; <strong>Fixed Form Extraction<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Map the template file with the relevant pages and click <strong>Apply<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The NUANCE_EXTRACTION_PLUGIN is now configured to use the mapped template file to extract data.
