{"id":31920,"date":"2018-02-28T09:54:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-28T17:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/2019-1-2\/system-config-2\/connection-manager\/"},"modified":"2020-05-19T12:23:37","modified_gmt":"2020-05-19T19:23:37","slug":"connection-manager","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/features-and-functions\/administrator\/system-configuration\/connection-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Connection Manager &#8211; Oracle Configuration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you installed Ephesoft Transact with ORACLE Database, you can connect to it using SID or Service Name.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oracle SID<\/strong> is the unique name that uniquely identifies your instance\/database whereas <strong>Service name<\/strong> is the TNS alias that you give when you remotely connect to your database. This Service name is recorded in the Tnsnames.ora file on your client, and it can be the same as SID or you can also give it any other name as needed.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Connection Manager UI contained only SID option for the ORACLE Connection Type.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13616\" style=\"border: 2px solid #A9A9A9;padding: 2px;margin: 2px\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/word-image.png\" width=\"771\" height=\"271\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In Ephesoft Transact v.4.5.0.0, the Connection Manager UI for ORACLE Connection Type has been changed to include two radio buttons: <strong>SID<\/strong> and <strong>Service Name<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>By Default, <strong>SID<\/strong> button is set to TRUE, and the value set in the text box will append with Connection URL to form a connection URL as \u201cjdbc:oracle:thin:@&lt;host-name&gt;:1521:&lt;sid&gt;\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13617\" style=\"border: 2px solid #A9A9A9;padding: 2px;margin: 2px\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/word-image-1.png\" width=\"771\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If <strong>Service Name<\/strong> button is selected, then the value set in the text box will append with Connection URL to form a connection URL as \u201cjdbc:oracle:thin:@&lt;host-name&gt;:1521\/&lt;service-name&gt;\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13618\" style=\"border: 2px solid #A9A9A9;padding: 2px;margin: 2px\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/word-image-2.png\" width=\"772\" height=\"197\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: Due to Oracle restrictions, the following parameters should be in UPPER CASE and have the same value:<br \/>\n\u2022 Database Name<br \/>\n\u2022 User Name<\/p>\n<p>The following parameter should be the same case as it was saved for Oracle during Ephesoft Transact installation:<br \/>\n\u2022 SID \/ Service Name<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":31916,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","template":"","doc_tag":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v19.0 (Yoast SEO v22.1) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Connection Manager - Oracle Configuration | Ephesoft Docs<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"noindex, follow\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Connection Manager - Oracle Configuration\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"&nbsp; If you installed Ephesoft Transact with ORACLE Database, you can connect to it using SID or Service Name.
