Complete the Prerequisites Check<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Supported operating systems:\n<ul>\n<li>Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3<\/li>\n<li>Oracle Linux 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3<\/li>\n<li>CentOS 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3<\/li>\n<li>Ubuntu 16.04 LTS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An internet connection is required as some software will need to be updated or installed from the OS repository during the Ephesoft Transact installation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The installation script must be run with super-user permissions, otherwise an error message will be displayed, and the script will exit (use the <strong>root<\/strong> user).<\/li>\n<li>Ephesoft Transact 2019.1 can be installed with MariaDB, or Oracle database. If Transact is installed with Oracle, the database must be installed and configured prior to installing Ephesoft Transact.<\/li>\n<li>Ephesoft Transact 2019.1 can be installed with LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, or Tomcat. If Ephesoft Transact is installed with Active Directory, MSAD must be already installed and configured prior to installing Transact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a id=\"post-34026-_Toc8144258\"><\/a><strong>2. Run the Ephesoft Transact Installer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>1. Download the Ephesoft Transact installer and save it on your Linux machine.<\/p>\n<p>2. Unzip the Ephesoft Transact installer by navigating to the folder containing the .zip file and running the <strong>unzip<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"816\" height=\"222\" class=\"wp-image-34095 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-313.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-313.png 816w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-313-300x82.png 300w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-313-768x209.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 816px) 100vw, 816px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3. To install Ephesoft Transact, you need super-user permissions. To gain super-user permissions, run the <strong>sudo su root <\/strong>command. Next, use the <strong>chmod 777<\/strong> command for the <strong>install<\/strong><em>, <\/em><strong>install-helper<\/strong>, and<strong> uninstall<\/strong> files to make them executable, or use the <strong>chmod -R 777 *<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"51\" class=\"wp-image-34096 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-314.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-314.png 680w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-314-300x23.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: If the installation process is started without obtaining the super-user permissions, one of the following messages will be displayed depending on the OS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<pre>\u201cPermission Denied\u201d<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<pre>\u201cPlease run Ephesoft installation script with super user permissions\u201d<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4. To start the installation process, use the <strong>.\/install<\/strong> command. Next, select <strong>n<\/strong> as we are not using silent installer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"784\" height=\"522\" class=\"wp-image-34097 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-315.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-315.png 784w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-315-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-315-768x511.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 784px) 100vw, 784px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5. The installer will check the internet connection. The installation will be interrupted if an internet connection is unavailable as some software requires update or installation from the OS\u2019s repository during the Ephesoft Transact installation. Do you want to change it?\u201d<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<pre>\u201cEphesoft Application will run as root. Enter the path for the target installation directory. By default, it is <strong>\/opt<\/strong>. You can change the directory or confirm the default option by clicking <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"760\" height=\"92\" class=\"wp-image-34101 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-319.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-319.png 760w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-319-300x36.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>8. Since this is a fresh installation, confirm that you need to install the <strong>SharedFolders<\/strong> instance by selecting <strong>n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"825\" height=\"62\" class=\"wp-image-34102 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-320.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-320.png 825w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-320-300x23.png 300w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/word-image-320-768x58.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>9. Specify where to install the <strong>SharedFolders<\/strong>. By default, it is <strong>\/opt\/Ephesoft<\/strong>. If you would like to designate another folder, answer <strong>y<\/strong> here and provide the location. Confirm the server name that will be saved in the properties files. Select the database. MariaDB is shipped with the Ephesoft Transact installer. For Oracle, you need to have an Oracle database already installed and configured.<\/p>\n<p>Available database options are explained below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#post-34026-mariadb\">MariaDB<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#post-34026-oracle\">Oracle DB<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a id=\"post-34026-mariadb\"><\/a> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">MariaDB<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select MariaDB by pressing <strong>1<\/strong> and clicking <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>To create a new database, press <strong>y<\/strong>. By default, report_archive<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><a id=\"post-34026-oracle\"><\/a> Oracle DB<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select Oracle by pressing <strong>2<\/strong> and clicking <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>To create a new database schema, press <strong>y<\/strong>. If you are using an existing Oracle schema, press <strong>n<\/strong> and provide required details as explained below.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>y<\/strong> if you need to change any details, otherwise select <strong>n<\/strong> to continue.<\/li>\n<li>Run the database patch by pressing <strong>y<\/strong>. The database patch is mandatory for a single-server installation. the following files to Ephesoft Support at tickets@ephesoft.com and include the distribution and version of Linux on which you are installing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\/var\/log\/install-ephesoft.log<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\/etc\/Ephesoft\/ephesoft.conf\u00a0<\/strong>(only root user has access to this folder; if the file does not exist, send only the first file)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you do not have <strong>root<\/strong> or <strong>sudo<\/strong> permissions on the server, please contact your system administrator for permissions and instructions.<\/li>\n<li>If installing the <strong>SharedFolders<\/strong> directory on a remote server\/NAS\/SAN, please advise your system administrator to mount the share locally to your server and use the path they provide during the installation. You can contact support for assistance if you run into issues with this. Persistent mount of the share on the local server will be necessary for Ephesoft to function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although Ephesoft Transact may support other Ubuntu and RHEL based distributions, we have not tested them all. Please contact support at tickets@ephesoft.com before attempting an installation so that we can advise you of any changes that may need to be made during the installation process.<\/p>\n<p>In Ubuntu, Ephesoft installation will turn the firewall (ufw) on after install. At the end of the installation, if you want\u00a0ufw turned off, please remember to turn it off again with the command\u00a0<strong>sudo ufw disable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When shutting down the Ephesoft Transact service in Ubuntu, use the command\u00a0<strong>sudo \/opt\/Ephesoft\/JavaAppServer\/bin\/shutdown.sh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After you install Ephesoft Transact and before you run the
