Do not run the <strong>sudo yum update<\/strong> command, as this updates RHEL to an unsupported version. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/how-to-update-to-a-previous-version-of-rhel\/\">How to Update to a Previous Version of RHEL<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Installation types \u2014 normal or silent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc21353660\"><\/a><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc31872745\"><\/a>Upgrade Overview<\/h3>\n<p>The process of upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1 follows this general sequence of tasks.<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 253px\" width=\"90%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#1f3864\">\n<td style=\"width: 20%\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\"><strong>Installation Task<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"color: #ffffff\"><strong>General Scope of Activity<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<td><strong><a href=\"#_Prerequisites\">Prerequisites<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Prepare to upgrade by gathering the required resources and verifying that the environment and databases are supported.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong><a href=\"#_Prepare_the_Server\">Prepare the Server for Upgrade<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Perform these steps to prepare the server for the upgrade installer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<td><strong><a href=\"#_Download_and_Run\">Download and Run the Ephesoft Transact Installer<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"474\">Run the Ephesoft Transact installer in the command line interface.<\/p>\n<p>For silent upgrade, provide the required configurations in the <strong>config.properties<\/strong> file.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"246\"><strong><a href=\"#_Normal_Upgrade\">Select Normal or Silent Upgrade<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"474\">Determine if you are performing a normal or silent upgrade and follow the steps for your selected option.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<td width=\"246\"><strong><a href=\"#_Service_Pack_Installation\">Service Pack Installation<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"474\">This service pack must be installed immediately after completing the upgrade process.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"246\"><strong><a href=\"#_Install_the_Ephesoft\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2020.1<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"474\">Perform these steps to complete the upgrade for Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2><a id=\"post-43977-_Prerequisites\"><\/a><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc31872746\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps for a successful software upgrade and startup:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine if you need to perform a single-server or multi-server upgrade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> Steps unique to a multi-server environment upgrade are identified where applicable.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Verify that the existing installation of Ephesoft Transact is supported for direct upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>If the system is currently running Ephesoft Transact version 4.5.0.0 or above, your system is supported for a direct upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.<\/li>\n<li>If the system is currently running a release prior to Ephesoft Transact 4.5.0.0, you will need to upgrade to version 4.5.0.0 before upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> If you are required to perform an intermediate upgrade, then you must launch the Ephesoft Transact 4.5.0.0 service before upgrading to version 2020.1 or the upgrade process will fail.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>If you are required to perform an intermediate upgrade, you will need a new license for Ephesoft Transact 4.5.0.0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Verify that your database version is supported. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/platform-configuration-and-third-party-integrations-transact-2020-1\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a> for additional information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: If you are upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1 with an existing version of MariaDB or MySQL database engine, refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/install-and-migrate-to-mariadb-for-linux\/\">Install and Migrate to MariaDB for Linux<\/a> before proceeding any further with the upgrade.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Verify that internet connectivity is available for this upgrade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>nm-online<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The installation will be interrupted if an internet connection is unavailable, as some software requires updates or installation from the operating system\u2019s repository.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Verify that you have super-user (root) permissions. If you are not a super-user, execute the following command to gain super-user permissions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>sudo su root<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: The installation script must be run with super-user permissions, or an error will occur, and the script will exit.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Verify that SharedFolders is accessible on the server undergoing upgrade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc7509831\"><\/a><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc31872747\"><\/a>User Instructions<\/h2>\n<h3><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc31872748\"><\/a>Prepare the Server for Upgrade<\/h3>\n<p>Perform these steps to prepare the server for an upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete all in-flight batches. All batch instances must be in the <strong>Finished<\/strong> state for the upgrade to be successful.<\/li>\n<li>Perform a complete backup of the following:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ephesoft<\/strong>, <strong>Report<\/strong>, and <strong>Report_Archive<\/strong> databases<\/li>\n<li>Batch classes<\/li>\n<li>Ephesoft<strong> SharedFolders<\/strong> directory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Run all reports and ensure they are complete and in sync.<\/li>\n<li>If the Apache Tomcat memory settings were changed from default, take note your current configuration to restore after upgrading. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/ephesoft-optimal-memory-settings\/\">Configuring Tomcat Memory Settings<\/a> for additional information.<\/li>\n<li>Verify registry information with the following command:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>\/etc\/.java\/.systemPrefs\/com\/Ephesoft\/license\/core\/annotation<\/pre>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Ensure the following paths and settings are properly configured:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Check that the path for <strong>sharedFolderDir <\/strong>matches the SharedFolders path currently being used by Ephesoft Transact.<\/li>\n<li>Check the registry settings to ensure that the DB Names and IP Address in Apache Tomcat\u2019s <strong>server.xml<\/strong> and <strong>registry<\/strong> <strong>database<\/strong> entries match. If there are any changes in the database information you will need to edit the appropriate settings in the <strong>server.xml<\/strong> and <strong>registry<\/strong> <strong>database<\/strong> to reflect those changes.<\/li>\n<li>Edit the <strong>SelectedDb<\/strong> entry in the registry to reflect the correct database type.<\/li>\n<li>Edit the number in the <strong>Value data<\/strong> field in the registry settings to match the database.\n<ul>\n<li>Select 1 for MariaDB Server(MySQL compatible).<\/li>\n<li>Select 2 for Oracle Database Server.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: If the upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1 requires a database migration or database version upgrade, these changes must be made prior to starting the upgrade process. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/platform-configuration-and-third-party-integrations-transact-2020-1\/\">Platform<\/a> Configurations and Third-Party Integrations for supported versions and <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/install-and-migrate-to-mariadb-for-linux\/\">Install and Migrate to MariaDB<\/a> for additional instructions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Ephesoft recommends testing any software upgrade with an existing application before moving the upgrade into production if the software being upgraded is integrated with any other applications, systems, or workflows.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Stop Ephesoft Transact running as a service using the command service ephesoft stop.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-43978\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/word-image-46.png\" width=\"541\" height=\"43\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/word-image-46.png 466w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/word-image-46-300x24.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 541px) 100vw, 541px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 1. Stop Ephesoft Transact Service<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Ensure that the target installation drive has enough space for the installation files. You may require up to 8GB of space.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc31872749\"><\/a>Download and Run the Ephesoft Transact Installer<\/h3>\n<p><a id=\"post-43977-_Hlk21337124\"><\/a><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc7509832\"><\/a> Perform these steps to upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/download\/\">Downloads\u00a0<\/a>page for information on how to obtain the Ephesoft Transact Installer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>After saving the .zip file to your Linux machine, verify the MD5 Sum on the file against the MD5 Sum listed in the Partner Portal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>md5sum .\/LINUX_Ephesoft_Transact_2020.1_<strong>1316<\/strong>.zip<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-43979\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/word-image-47.png\" width=\"610\" height=\"40\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/word-image-47.png 701w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/word-image-47-300x20.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 2. Execute the .\/install Command<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: If the Ephesoft Transact installer stops fails during any step of the upgrade process, contact <a href=\"mailto:tickets@ephesoft.com\">Ephesoft Support<\/a>\u00a0and provide the following files and details:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Your distribution and version of Linux.<\/li>\n<li><strong>var\/log\/install-ephesoft.log <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\/etc\/Ephesoft\/Ephesoft.conf<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Only the root user has access to this folder. Upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>You will be prompted to forcefully stop the Ephesoft Transact service if it is running. Press\u00a0<strong>y<\/strong> to stop the Ephesoft Transact service on all nodes. The upgrade process cannot proceed if the Ephesoft Transact server is running.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: The following steps vary depending on a single or multi-server installation. The database patch is mandatory for a single-server upgrade, or if you are upgrading the first server in a multi-server installation.<\/li>\n<li>For a multi-server upgrade, the database patch is only required for the first server in the node. Press <strong>n<\/strong>\u00a0for subsequent server upgrades.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: If you run the database patch on a second or subsequent server in a multi-server upgrade, you may corrupt the existing database.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>If Tesseract (an OCR engine) was not installed with the previous installation, the following screen will display:\n<ul>\n<li>Select <strong>n<\/strong> to decline installing Tesseract. This may take some time.<\/li>\n<li>The installer will prompt for registration information. This information is used to assist in the generation of your license for Ephesoft Transact. In addition, there are some dependencies on Ephesoft Transact property file changes required to support the Cloud HyperExtender globally. Ephesoft has created a service pack to address these issues. Replace the following variables with their respective values:\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>@@HTTPORHTTPS@@ &#8211; Replace this variable with either &#8220;http&#8221; or &#8220;https&#8221; as per your server configuration.<\/li>\n<li>@@SERVER_ALIAS@@ &#8211; Replace this variable with your server hostname.<\/li>\n<li>@@TOMCATPORTNUMBER@@ &#8211; Replace this variable with your web server port number (default is 8080).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>11. Deploy <strong>cloud-ui<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Save a backup of the existing [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webapps\/cloud-ui directory to the <strong>CHE_Backup_2020.<\/strong><strong>1.01<\/strong> folder.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the existing [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webapps\/cloud-ui directory and its contents.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the new <strong>cloud-ui<\/strong> folder from the temporary location (step 2) to the [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webapps\/ directory.<\/li>\n<li>Execute the following command to change ownership of the folder to the user &#8220;ephesoft&#8221;:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>chown -R ephesoft cloud-ui<\/pre>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Start the Ephesoft Transact server.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: These changes must be made on all servers (UI and Processing) in a cluster. Ephesoft recommends performing thorough testing of Ephesoft Transact after deploying the service pack.<\/p>\n<p>You have successfully installed the 2020.1.01 Service Pack. If any issues occur, refer to <a href=\"#_Rollback_Steps\">Rollback Steps<\/a> to revert the deployment. Otherwise, proceed to <a href=\"#_License_and_Launch\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2020.1<\/a> to complete the installation process.<\/p>\n<h3>Rollback Steps<\/h3>\n<p>If any issues occur with this service pack, follow the steps below to roll back this installation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Stop the Ephesoft Transact service on all nodes.<\/li>\n<li>Open shell with the root user.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/Application\/WEB-INF\/lib\/HOT-FIXES directory.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the following file: <strong>gtx-core-0.0.15-SNAPSHOT.jar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>Backup_2020.<\/strong><strong>1.01 <\/strong>folder located inside the <strong>HOT-FIXES <\/strong>folder.\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Copy the existing .jar file from the <strong>Backup_2020.<\/strong><strong>1.01 <\/strong>folder to the <strong>HOT-FIXES <\/strong>folder.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the <strong>Backup_2020.<\/strong><strong>1.01 <\/strong>folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Steps 6-10 and 12 are CHE only.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Restore the backup of the <strong>cloud-plugin.properties <\/strong>file from the <strong>CHE_Backup_2020.<\/strong><strong>1.01 <\/strong>folder to its original location (step 8 above).<\/li>\n<li>Remove the existing [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webapps\/ephesoft-cloud-client directory and its contents.<\/li>\n<li>Restore the backup of the ephesoft-cloud-client directory and its contents (step 10a above) inside [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webapps\/.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the existing [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webapps\/cloud-ui directory and its contents.<\/li>\n<li>Restore the backup of the cloud-ui-directory and its contents (step 11a above) inside [<em>Ephesoft_Home<\/em>]\/JavaAppServer\/webbapps\/.<\/li>\n<li>Start the Ephesoft Transact server.<\/li>\n<li>If the Ephesoft Transact server starts successfully, delete the <strong>CHE_Backup_2020.<\/strong><strong>1.01<\/strong> folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You have successfully rolled back the 2020.1.01 Service Pack.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-43977-_Install_the_Ephesoft\"><\/a><a id=\"post-43977-_Toc31872752\"><\/a>License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2020.1<\/h2>\n<p><a id=\"post-43977-_Hlk20404248\"><\/a> To complete the upgrade, refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/licensing\/\">Licensing Requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: Ephesoft recommends restarting the service after your license registry is updated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">\u00a0 \u00a0a.\u00a0 Compare the post-upgrade properties files against the pre-upgrade properties files. You must match the configuration settings of the post-upgrade property files to the pre-upgrade property files.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Note<\/strong>: The upgrade installer creates a backup folder to store the pre-upgrade configuration settings and components.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Use the diff command to compare and merge the pre-upgrade configurations into the post-upgrade configurations. Original configuration files are backed up on the same server. Navigate to the folder where Ephesoft Transact was installed and find the backup folder of your previously installed version of Ephesoft Transact to get access to your prior configurations, files, and settings. Properties, file settings, or components that are unique to each deployment can include the following:<\/li>\n<li>Computer names<\/li>\n<li>Database paths<\/li>\n<li>HTTPS (as applicable)<\/li>\n<li>ImageMagick (as applicable)<\/li>\n<li>JavaAppServer<\/li>\n<li>Keystore location<\/li>\n<li>Registry<\/li>\n<li>Single Sign-On (SSO)<\/li>\n<li>User connectivity for Microsoft Active Directory, Apache Tomcat, or LDAP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/what-are-the-folders-where-customer-specific-data-is-stored\/\">Folders where Customer-specific Data is Stored<\/a> for additional information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">\u00a0 \u00a0b.\u00a0 If you are required to perform an intermediate upgrade to 4.5.0.0, your previously installed license will not work on 4.5.0.0.
