Complete all settings and dialogs as prompted.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"#post-46149-_heading=h.2bn6wsx\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.03<\/a><\/td>\n<td>License and launch Ephesoft Transact, then log in. Upon completion of this task and document, all authorized administrators and operators can log in for operations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.1fob9te\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/h2>\n<p><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.3znysh7\"><\/a> Perform these steps to prepare for successful software installation and startup:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine if you need to perform a single-server or multi-server installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> Steps unique to a multi-server environment upgrade are identified where applicable throughout this document. Follow the instructions and adjust as necessary if upgrading on a multi-server environment.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Verify that Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.03 is supported on your operating system. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/platform-configurations-and-third-party-integrations\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a> and reference the 2020.1 table for additional information.<\/li>\n<li>Use the document cited above to confirm and verify that your database version is supported.<\/li>\n<li>The following database information is required when you run the Install Wizard:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Username and password<\/li>\n<li>Database connection parameters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important Database Notes<\/strong>: The Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.03 Install Wizard does not install any database management systems (DBMS). You will need to install and configure any relevant DBMS prior to installing Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.03.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019re installing Ephesoft Transact for the first-time using MariaDB, reference <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2019-2\/added-resources-2019-2\/installing-on-windows\/install-migrate-mariadb-mysql\/\">Install and Migrate MariaDB or MySQL for Windows<\/a> for additional information.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using Microsoft SQL Server as your database, refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/install-and-upgrade\/additional-resources\/windows\/installing-ephesoft-transact-v-4-5-0-0-on-windows-server-2012r2-windows-8-and-higher\/\">Configuring Named Instance for Microsoft SQL Server<\/a> and complete the steps before proceeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Verify that internet connectivity is available for this installation.<\/li>\n<li>Verify or complete .NET 4.5.2 installation on the server before running the Install Wizard. You will not be able to proceed with the installation if the listed requirements are not met. You can download .NET 4.5.2 from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=42642\">Microsoft<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm the requirements of the SharedFolders directory for this installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: This directory is used as a shared resource between Ephesoft Transact servers in a multi-server installation. The directory can be installed in one of two locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Local Disk<\/strong>: By default, the Install Wizard installs SharedFolders on the local system where the user installs Ephesoft Transact. Choose this location for single-server installations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Network File Share Server<\/strong>: Ephesoft recommends installing the SharedFolders directory on a network shared folder, as it allows for future growth and scalability. Choose this location for multi-server installations. If you plan to use SharedFolders from a Network File Share Server, complete the following steps prior to using the Install Wizard:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Obtain the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) server name for the network server.<\/li>\n<li>Create a base network path on that server that will host the SharedFolders directory.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The Install Wizard creates the SharedFolders directory on the network server in a later step. The network server and base network path must be online and available when you run the Install Wizard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: All multi-server installations require the SharedFolders to be on a network server.<a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.h1uhyz63tml7\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.tyjcwt\"><\/a>Prepare the Server for Installation<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps to prepare the server to install Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.03.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log onto the Windows system and set the User Access Control (UAC) to <strong>Never notify<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: This is a temporary setting, and you must re-enable UAC after completing the installation later in this document.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>From the Windows <strong>Start<\/strong> menu, search for <strong>User Access Control<\/strong> or <strong>UAC<\/strong>. The Windows Control Panel displays the link. You will be prompted to confirm this setting.<\/li>\n<li>Accept the changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Create a Windows service account or confirm the username and password for an existing Windows service account to be used with Ephesoft Transact.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You are now ready to obtain and launch the Install Wizard.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.qsh70q\"><\/a>Multi-Server Installation<\/h2>\n<p>If you are installing in a multi-server environment, it is important to follow the instructions outlined in <a href=\"#post-46149-_heading=h.1y810tw\">Enter Ephesoft Registration, SharedFolders, and Installation Information<\/a>. The steps for both single and multi-server environments are similar up to this section where the <strong>Ephesoft Registration Information <\/strong>screen is described.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.3dy6vkm\"><\/a>Obtain and Launch the Install Wizard Package<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps to download and launch the Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/download\/\">Downloads<\/a> page for information on how to obtain the Ephesoft Transact installer.<\/li>\n<li>Download the Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.03 Install Wizard as instructed by Ephesoft. This is a zipped file with the following filename: <strong>Ephesoft_Transact_2020.1.03_Windows.zip<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Extract all contents of this .zip file to a temporary location. To extract the file, right-click the file, and from the pop-up menu, click <strong>Extract All<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-46388\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-88.png\" width=\"215\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-88.png 281w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-88-175x300.png 175w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 7. If prompted, it is not necessary to disable IPv6 nor is it necessary to preemptively disable IPv6 as installation will complete with IPv6 enabled. If a warning displays in the above screen, click <strong>Details<\/strong> for more information. Click <strong>Next<\/strong> when the prerequisites check is acceptable. Continue to <strong>.NET Framework 4.5.2 Installation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.2s8eyo1\"><\/a>.NET Framework 4.5.2 Installation<\/h3>\n<p>Ephesoft Transact performs a check to verify that the .NET Framework 4.5.2 is installed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"495\" height=\"387\" class=\"wp-image-46393\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-93.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-93.png 495w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-93-300x235.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 13. .NET Framework 4.5.2 Installation<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The following factors enable or disable the <strong>Next<\/strong> button:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Next <\/strong>button is enabled if the .NET Framework 4.5.2 is installed on the system.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Next <\/strong>button is disabled if the .NET Framework 4.5.2 is not installed on the system. Ephesoft Prerequisites Installation<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: If your system has newer versions of the Visual C++ redistributables, the Ephesoft Transact installer may fail. Perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>Uninstall the newer version of the library (not bundled with Transact).<\/li>\n<li>Run the Ephesoft Transact installer.<\/li>\n<li>If any external applications require it, re-install the newer version of the library that were uninstalled in step 1.<br \/>\nRefer to the list of Visual C++ redistributables shown in Figure 14 for the required versions of these files.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The Install Wizard may display the following message: \u201cTransact prerequisites are being installed in the background.\u201d Allow time for the background configuration processes to complete. Continue to <strong>Define Service Credentials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.17dp8vu\"><\/a>Define Service Credentials<\/h3>\n<p>If you are running the Ephesoft Transact Server as a Windows service, the Install Wizard prompts you to choose which account to use. Choose the account that complies with your organization\u2019s security policy.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>In most cases, users select <strong>Local System Account<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>To use another existing account, select <strong>This Account <\/strong>and enter the username and password for an account that has full access permissions to the network SharedFolders path.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"495\" height=\"387\" class=\"wp-image-46395\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-95.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-95.png 495w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/word-image-95-300x235.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 15. Ephesoft recommends configuring SharedFolders on a network location for future growth and scalability.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>. Continue to <strong>Select and Set Up the Database<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><a id=\"post-46149-_heading=h.3rdcrjn\"><\/a>Select and Set Up the Database<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Configure Database<\/strong> screen displays. Perform the steps below to select and set up your database.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Select the database you want to configure. You will need to configure the MariaDB database prior to running the Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard.
