Do not run the yum update command, as this updates RHEL to an unsupported version. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/how-to-update-to-a-previous-version-of-rhel\/\">How to Update to a Previous Version of RHEL<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Installation types \u2014 normal or silent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a id=\"post-48758-_30j0zll\"><\/a>Installation Overview<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0process of\u00a0installing\u00a0Ephesoft\u00a0Transact 2020.1.05\u00a0follows\u00a0this\u00a0general\u00a0sequence of tasks.\u00a0Before proceeding, review the<a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/announcements\/release-notes\/release-notes-2020-1-04\/\"> 2020.1.05 Release Notes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"color: #ffffff;background-color: #1f3864;font: bold\">\n<td>Installation Task<\/td>\n<td>General Scope of Activity<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<td><a href=\"#post-48758-_1fob9te\">Prerequisites\u00a0<\/a><\/td>\n<td>Prepare for installation by gathering installation resources and verifying that the environment is supported.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"#post-48758-_tyjcwt\">Download and Run the Ephesoft Transact Installer<\/a><\/td>\n<td>Run the Ephesoft Transact installer in the command line interface.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<td><a href=\"#post-48758-_3dy6vkm\">Select Normal or Silent Install<\/a><\/td>\n<td>Determine if you are performing a normal or silent installation and follow the steps for your selected option.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"#post-48758-_35nkun2\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.05<\/a><\/td>\n<td>Perform these steps to complete the install for Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.05.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h1><a id=\"post-48758-_1fob9te\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/h1>\n<p>Perform these steps to prepare for a successful software installation and startup:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine if you need to perform a single-server or multi-server installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important: <\/strong>Installation steps unique to a multi-server installation are identified where applicable.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Verify that your database version is supported. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/platform-configuration-and-third-party-integrations-transact-2020-1\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a> and reference the 2020.1 table for additional information.<\/li>\n<li>The following database information is required when you run the installer:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Username and password<\/li>\n<li>Database connection parameters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: The Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.04 installer does not install any database management systems (DBMS). You will need to install and configure any relevant DBMS prior to installing Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.04. If you\u2019re installing Ephesoft Transact for the first time using MariaDB, reference <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/install-and-migrate-to-mariadb-for-linux\/\">Install and Migrate to MariaDB for Linux<\/a> for additional information.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Verify that internet connectivity is available for this installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>nm-online<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The installation will be interrupted if an internet connection is unavailable, as some software requires updates or installation from the operating system\u2019s repository.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><a id=\"post-47392-_3znysh7\"><\/a> If you are installing Ephesoft Transact with Microsoft Active Directory (MSAD), MSAD must already be installed and configured prior to installing Ephesoft Transact.<\/li>\n<li>Verify that you have super-user (root) permissions. If you are not a super-user, execute the following command to gain super-user permissions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre>sudo su root<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: The installation script must be run with super-user permissions, or an error will occur, and the script will exit.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/how-to-manually-install-microsofts-truetype-core-fonts\/\">How to Manually Install Microsoft&#8217;s TrueType Core<\/a> Fonts and complete the steps for your Linux distribution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: Ephesoft Transact requires Microsoft&#8217;s TrueType Core (msttcore) fonts to be installed when converting PDF to TIFF files. The msttcore fonts must be installed on the same processing server(s) as Ephesoft Transact.<\/p>\n<h1><a id=\"post-48758-_2et92p0\"><\/a>User Instructions<\/h1>\n<h2><a id=\"post-48758-_tyjcwt\"><\/a>Download and Run the Ephesoft Transact Installer<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps to run the Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.04 installer.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/download\/\">Downloads<\/a> page for information on how to obtain the Ephesoft Transact Installer.<\/li>\n<li>Unzip the Ephesoft Transact installer by navigating to the folder containing the .zip file and execute the following command:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre><code>unzip Ephesoft_Transact_2020.1.04_Linux.zip<\/code><\/pre>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>If unzip is not installed, use the <code>sudo yum install unzip<\/code> command.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"638\" height=\"291\" class=\"wp-image-48759\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-68.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-68.png 638w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-68-300x137.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 638px) 100vw, 638px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Figure 1. Execute the<\/em> <code>.\/install<\/code> Command<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> If the Ephesoft Transact installer stops or fails during any step of the upgrade process, contact Ephesoft Support at <a href=\"mailto:tickets@ephesoft.com\">tickets@ephesoft.com<\/a> and provide the following files and details:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Your distribution and version of Linux.<\/li>\n<li><strong>var\/log\/install-ephesoft.log<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\/etc\/Ephesoft\/Ephesoft.conf<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Only the root user has access to this folder. Execute the <\/em><code>.\/install<\/code><em> command<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-48758-_3dy6vkm\"><\/a>Normal Install<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The installer will check the internet connection.<\/li>\n<li>After the installer runs a check on the Linux operating system, you will be prompted to change the detected operating system. In most cases, users select the operating system detected by the installer. Installer Detects Operating System<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>While you must be the root user to install Ephesoft Transact, you do not have to be the root user to run the application. You will be prompted to decide whether to run Ephesoft Transact as either root or non-root user with one of the following:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>\u201cDo you want to run Ephesoft Application as a non-root user?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEphesoft Application will run as root. Do you want to change it?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEphesoft Application will run as &lt;current user&gt;. Change to non-root user<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The following list further describes the configurable properties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New username<\/strong>: username for a new user to run the application<\/li>\n<li><strong>Password<\/strong>: valid password for a new user to run the application<\/li>\n<li><strong>Primary group<\/strong>: primary user group for a new user, which will give them required permissions (read, write, and execute). If the group doesn\u2019t exist, it will be created with the provided name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Input the path for the target installation directory. The default option is <strong>\/opt<\/strong>. The installer will extract the Ephesoft tar file and copy the Ephesoft folder to the installation directory. This may take some time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: Never install Ephesoft Transact in the <strong>\/home<\/strong> directory for a user, or in the <strong>\/root<\/strong>,<strong> \/bin<\/strong>,<strong> \/etc<\/strong>,<strong> \/sbin<\/strong>, <strong>\/usr<\/strong>, or<strong> \/boot <\/strong>directories.<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"post-48758-_nxbzfciqhbhg\"><\/a>Create SharedFolders<\/h4>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>You will be prompted to determine whether you want to use an existing instance of SharedFolders. If you are installing on a single-server environment, or if you are installing the first server in a multi-server environment, you will need to install SharedFolders for Ephesoft Transact to function properly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: For Ephesoft Transact to function properly, SharedFolders must be accessible on the local server. The recommended option is the default <strong>\/opt\/Ephesoft<\/strong>.\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Select n to keep the default <strong>\/opt\/Ephesoft<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<li>Select y to designate a different folder and provide the chosen location. For single server installation, enter a local server directory path. The default server name is the OS hostname, which is automatically identified by the installer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you want to confirm your host name, run the <code>hostname<\/code> command. This will display the current host name of your Linux system.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Select <code>y<\/code> to change the default server name.<\/li>\n<li>Select <code>n<\/code> to keep the default server name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> If you change the server name it must be to a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) that your Ephesoft Transact users will have access to. This allows browsers to resolve images correctly. Select Database Type<\/em><\/p>\n<h5><a id=\"post-48758-_ex6np5pamms3\"><\/a>MariaDB Configuration<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The installer does not install MariaDB as part of the installation process. You will need to configure the database for MariaDB prior to running the Ephesoft Transact installer. The installer allows you to connect to an existing MariaDB server during installation of Ephesoft Transact.
