The yum update will upgrade the system to the latest RHEL version in the same series. Ensure the latest version is in the supported Linux distributions list. Refer to <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/how-to-update-to-a-previous-version-of-rhel\/\">How to Update to a Previous Version of RHEL<\/a> for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Installation types \u2014 normal or silent<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a id=\"post-49510-_1fob9te\" style=\"color: #000000\"><\/a>Upgrade Overview<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The process of upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06 follows this general sequence of tasks. Before proceeding, review the<a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/announcements\/release-notes\/release-notes-2020-1-04\/\"> 2020.1.06 Release Notes<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr style=\"color: #ffffff;background-color: #1f3864\">\n<th>Installation Task<\/th>\n<th>General Scope of Activity<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"#post-49510-_3znysh7\">Prerequisites<\/a><\/span><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Prepare to upgrade by gathering the required resources and verifying that the environment and databases are supported.<\/span><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"#post-49510-_tyjcwt\">Prepare the Server for Upgrade<\/a><\/span><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Perform these steps to prepare the server for the upgrade installer.<\/span><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<th><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"#post-49510-_3dy6vkm\">Download and Run the Ephesoft Transact Installer<\/a><\/span><\/th>\n<th>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Run the Ephesoft Transact installer in the command line interface.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">For silent upgrade, provide the required configurations in the <strong>config.properties<\/strong> file.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"#post-49510-_4d34og8\">Select Normal or Silent Upgrade<\/a><\/span><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Determine if you are performing a normal or silent upgrade and follow the steps for your selected option.<\/span><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"#post-49510-_lnxbz9\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06<\/a><\/span><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Perform these steps to complete the upgrade for Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06.<\/span><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<\/table>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a id=\"post-49510-_3znysh7\" style=\"color: #000000\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Perform these steps for a successful software upgrade and startup:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Determine if you need to perform a single-server or multi-server upgrade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> Steps unique to a multi-server environment upgrade are identified where applicable.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Verify that the existing installation of Ephesoft Transact is supported for direct upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If the system is currently running Ephesoft Transact version 2020.1.x, your system is supported for direct upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If the system is currently running Ephesoft Transact 2020.1 and you are using the Cloud HyperExtender plugin, you will need to install the <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/windows-upgrade-guide\/#service-pack-installation\">2020.1.01 service pack<\/a> before you can upgrade to 2020.1.06.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If the system is currently running a release prior to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1, you will need to upgrade to version 2020.1 before upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> If you are required to perform an intermediate upgrade, then you must successfully start Ephesoft Transact 2020.1 before upgrading to version 2020.1.06 or the upgrade process will fail.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Verify that your database version is supported. Refer to <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/platform-configuration-and-third-party-integrations-transact-2020-1\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a> for additional information.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: If you are upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06 with an existing version of MariaDB or MySQL database engine, refer to <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/install-and-migrate-to-mariadb-for-linux\/\">Install and Migrate to MariaDB for Linux<\/a> before proceeding any further with the upgrade.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Verify that internet connectivity is available for this upgrade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><code>nm-online<\/code><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: The installation will be interrupted if an internet connection is unavailable, as some software requires updates or installation from the operating system\u2019s repository.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Verify that you have super-user (root) permissions. If you are not a super-user, execute the following command to gain super-user permissions:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><code>sudo su root<\/code><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: The installation script must be run with super-user permissions, or an error will occur, and the script will exit.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Verify that SharedFolders is accessible on the server undergoing upgrade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a id=\"post-49510-_2et92p0\" style=\"color: #000000\"><\/a>User Instructions<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a id=\"post-49510-_tyjcwt\" style=\"color: #000000\"><\/a>Prepare the Server for Upgrade<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Perform these steps to prepare the server for an upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Complete all in-flight batches. All batch instances must be in the <strong>Finished<\/strong> state for the upgrade to be successful.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Perform a complete backup of the following:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Ephesoft<\/strong>, <strong>Report<\/strong>, and <strong>Report_Archive<\/strong> databases<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Batch classes<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ephesoft<strong> SharedFolders<\/strong> directory<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Run all reports and ensure they are complete and in sync.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If the Apache Tomcat memory settings were changed from default, take note your current configuration to restore after upgrading. Refer to <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/ephesoft-optimal-memory-settings\/\">Configuring Tomcat Memory Settings<\/a> for additional information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Verify registry information with the following command:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><code>\/etc\/.java\/.systemPrefs\/com\/Ephesoft\/license\/core\/annotation<\/code><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ensure the following paths and settings are properly configured:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Check that the path for <strong>sharedFolderDir <\/strong>matches the SharedFolders path currently being used by Ephesoft Transact.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Check the registry settings to ensure that the DB Names and IP Address in Apache Tomcat\u2019s <strong>server.xml<\/strong> and <strong>registry<\/strong> <strong>database<\/strong> entries match. If there are any changes in the database information you will need to edit the appropriate settings in the <strong>server.xml<\/strong> and <strong>registry<\/strong> <strong>database<\/strong> to reflect those changes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Edit the <strong>SelectedDb<\/strong> entry in the registry to reflect the correct database type.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Edit the number in the <strong>Value data<\/strong> field in the registry settings to match the database.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Select 1 for MariaDB Server(MySQL compatible).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Select 2 for Oracle Database Server.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: If the upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.06 requires a database migration or database version upgrade, these changes must be made prior to starting the upgrade process. Refer to <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/platform-configuration-and-third-party-integrations-transact-2020-1\/\">Platform<\/a> Configurations and Third-Party Integrations for supported versions and <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2020-1\/install-and-migrate-to-mariadb-for-linux\/\">Install and Migrate to MariaDB<\/a> for additional instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: We recommend testing any software upgrade with an existing application before moving the upgrade into production if the software being upgraded is integrated with any other applications, systems, or workflows.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Stop Ephesoft Transact running as a service using the following command:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><code>service ephesoft stop.<\/code><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"466\" height=\"37\" class=\"wp-image-49511\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/word-image-17.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/word-image-17.png 466w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/word-image-17-300x24.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 466px) 100vw, 466px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><em>Figure 1: Stop Ephesoft Transact Service<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ensure that the target installation drive has enough space for the installation files. Press <strong>y<\/strong> to stop the Ephesoft Transact service on all nodes. The upgrade process cannot proceed if the Ephesoft Transact server is running.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: The following steps vary depending on a single or multi-server installation. The database patch is mandatory for a single-server upgrade, or if you are upgrading the first server in a multi-server installation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">For a multi-server upgrade, the database patch is only required for the first server in the node. Press n for subsequent server upgrades.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Important: <\/strong>If you run the database patch on a second or subsequent server in a multi-server installation, you may corrupt the existing database.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If Tesseract (an OCR engine) was not installed with the previous installation, the following screen will display:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Select n to decline installing Tesseract.
