Complete all settings and dialogs as prompted.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<td><a href=\"#post-51712-_heading=h.1ci93xb\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01<\/a><\/td>\n<td>License and launch Ephesoft Transact, then log in. Upon completion of this task and document, all authorized administrators and operators can log in for operations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h1><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.1fob9te\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/h1>\n<p><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.3znysh7\"><\/a> Perform these steps to prepare for a successful software installation and startup:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine if you need to perform a single-server or multi-server installation.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nImportant:<\/strong> Steps unique to a multi-server environment upgrade are identified where applicable throughout this document. Follow the instructions and adjust as necessary if upgrading on a multi-server environment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Verify that Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01 is supported on your operating system. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/platform-configurations-and-third-party-integrations\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a> and reference the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/platform-configurations-and-third-party-integrations\/#ephesoft-transact-2022-1-00-and-above\">2022.1.00 and Above<\/a> table for additional information.<\/li>\n<li>Use the document cited above to confirm and verify that your database version is supported.<\/li>\n<li>The following database information is required when you run the Install Wizard:\n<ul>\n<li>Username and password<\/li>\n<li>Database connection parameters<br \/>\n<strong>Important Database Notes:<\/strong> The Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard does not install any database management systems (DBMS). You will need to install and configure any relevant DBMS prior to installing Ephesoft Transact.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re installing Ephesoft Transact for the first-time using Maria DB, reference <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2019-2\/added-resources-2019-2\/installing-on-windows\/install-migrate-mariadb-mysql\/\">Install and Migrate to MariaDB for Windows<\/a> for additional information.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re using Microsoft SQL Server as your database, refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/install-and-upgrade\/additional-resources\/windows\/installing-ephesoft-transact-v-4-5-0-0-on-windows-server-2012r2-windows-8-and-higher\/\">Prerequisites for Configuring Transact with Microsoft SQL Server<\/a> and complete the steps before proceeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Verify that internet connectivity is available for this installation.<\/li>\n<li>Verify or complete .NET 4.5.2 installation on the server before running the Install Wizard. You will not be able to proceed with the installation if the listed requirements are not met. You can download .NET 4.5.2 from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=42642\">Microsoft<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm the requirements of the SharedFolders directory for this installation.<br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong>: This directory is used as a shared resource between Ephesoft Transact servers in a multi-server installation. The directory can be installed in one of two locations:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Local Disk<\/strong>: By default, the Install Wizard installs SharedFolders on the local system where the user installs Ephesoft Transact. Choose this location for single-server installations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Network File Share Server<\/strong>: Ephesoft recommends installing the SharedFolders directory on a network shared folder, as it allows for future growth and scalability. Choose this location for multi-server installations. If you plan to use SharedFolders from a Network File Share Server, complete the following steps prior to using the Install Wizard:\n<ol>\n<li>Obtain the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) server name for the network server.<\/li>\n<li>Create a base network path on that server that will host the SharedFolders directory.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The Install Wizard creates the SharedFolders directory on the network server in a later step. The network server and base network path must be online and available when you run the Install Wizard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: All multi-server installations require the SharedFolders to be on a network server.<\/p>\n<h1><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.2et92p0\"><\/a>Installation Instructions<\/h1>\n<h2><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.tyjcwt\"><\/a>Prepare the Server for Installation<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps to prepare the server to install Ephesoft Transact.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log onto the Windows system and set the User Access Control (UAC) to <strong>Never notify<\/strong>. Do the following:<strong>Important<\/strong>: This is a temporary setting, and you must re-enable UAC after completing the installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>From the Windows <strong>Start<\/strong> menu, search for <strong>User Access Control<\/strong> or <strong>UAC<\/strong>. The Windows Control Panel displays the link. You will be prompted to confirm this setting.<\/li>\n<li>Accept the changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Create a Windows service account, or confirm the username and password for an existing Windows service account to be used with Ephesoft Transact.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You are now ready to obtain and launch the Install Wizard.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.3dy6vkm\"><\/a>Multi-Server Installation<\/h2>\n<p>If you are installing in a multi-server environment, it is important to follow the instructions outlined in <a href=\"#post-51712-_heading=h.4i7ojhp\">Enter Ephesoft Registration, SharedFolders, and Installation Information<\/a>. The steps for both single and multi-server environments are similar up to this section where the <strong>Ephesoft Registration Information <\/strong>screen is described.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.1t3h5sf\"><\/a>Obtain and Launch the Install Wizard Package<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps to download and launch the Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Refer to the Ephesoft Support Portal <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/download\/\">Downloads<\/a> page for information on how to obtain the Ephesoft Transact installer.<\/li>\n<li>Download the Ephesoft Transact Installer. This is a zipped file with the following filename: <strong>Ephesoft_Transact_&lt;Version Number&gt;_Windows.zip<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Extract all contents of this .zip file to a temporary location. To extract the file, right-click the file, and from the pop-up menu, click <strong>Extract All<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51715\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/extractall.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 3. Click <\/em><strong><em>Extract All<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> You must extract all elements of the installer package. The following figure illustrates the contents of the extracted installer package:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51716\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/installpackagecontents.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 4. Installer Package Contents <\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Open the Windows Command Prompt as an Administrator. Navigate to the directory where you extracted the installer zip file, then execute the following command to install Ephesoft Transact:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 40px\">msiexec.exe \/i Ephesoft_2022.1.01.msi<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">The following screen displays:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51717\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/openfilesecuritywarning.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 5. If a warning displays in the above screen, click <strong>Details<\/strong> for more information.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> when the prerequisites check is acceptable. Continue to <strong>.NET Framework 4.5.2 Installation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.17dp8vu\"><\/a>.NET Framework 4.5.2 Installation<\/h3>\n<p>If prompted to perform .NET Framework installation, follow these instructions.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ephesoft Transact performs a check to verify that the .NET Framework 4.5.2 is installed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51721\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/netframeworkinstallation.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 9. .NET Framework 4.5.2 Installation<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: The following factors enable or disable the <strong>Next<\/strong> button:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Next <\/strong>button is enabled if the .NET Framework 4.5.2 is installed on the system.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Next <\/strong>button is disabled if the .NET Framework 4.5.2 is not installed on the system. A<strong> Download<\/strong> button will display. Follow these steps:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Click <\/span><b>Download<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and go to the appropriate link.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Download and install the .NET 4.5.2 Framework.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Follow the instructions in the .NET 4.5.2 Framework installer to complete the installation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">Once you have completed the installation of .NET 4.5.2 Framework, continue to the next step.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>. The Install Wizard performs a check of Microsoft<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Visual C++ Redistributables.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51721\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/ephesoftprerequisitesinstallation.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 10. Ephesoft Prerequisites Installation<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Refer to the list of Visual C++ redistributables shown in Figure 14 for the required versions of these files.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The Install Wizard may display the following message: \u201cTransact prerequisites are being installed in the background.\u201d Allow time for the background configuration processes to complete. Continue to <strong>Define Service Credentials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.3rdcrjn\"><\/a>Define Service Credentials<\/h3>\n<p>If you are running the Ephesoft Transact Server as a Windows service, the Install Wizard prompts you to choose which account to use. Choose the account that complies with your organization\u2019s security policy.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In most cases, users select <strong>Local System Account<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>To use another existing account, select <strong>This Account <\/strong>and enter the username and password for an account that has full access permissions to the network SharedFolders path.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51723\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/servicecredentialsandaccountselection.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 11. Service Credentials and Account Selection<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: Use this option with a Windows service account that has access to the SharedFolders component, whether locally or remote. Ephesoft recommends configuring SharedFolders on a network location for future growth and scalability.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>. Continue to <strong>Select and Set Up the Database<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.26in1rg\"><\/a>Select and Set Up the Database<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Configure Database<\/strong> screen displays. Perform the steps below to select and set up your database.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the database you want to configure. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51724\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/configuredatabase.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>Figure 12.<\/em><strong><em> Configure Database<\/em><\/strong><em> Screen<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Follow the instructions for the selected database:<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#post-51712-_heading=h.lnxbz9\">MariaDB Server Configuration<\/a> \u2014 the default selection in the Install Wizard<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#post-51712-_heading=h.35nkun2\">Microsoft SQL Server Configuration<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#post-51712-_heading=h.1ksv4uv\">Oracle Database Server Configuration<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.lnxbz9\"><\/a>MariaDB Configuration<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Install Wizard does not install MariaDB as a part of the installation process. You will need to configure the MariaDB server prior to running the Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard. The Install Wizard allows you to connect to an existing MariaDB server during installation of Ephesoft Transact.<\/p>\n<p>For the latest information about MariaDB version support and MariaDB installation, refer to these documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2019-2\/added-resources-2019-2\/installing-on-windows\/install-migrate-mariadb-mysql\/\">Install and Migrate MariaDB and MySQL for Windows<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/platform-configurations-and-third-party-integrations\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To create and connect a database on the MariaDB server for Ephesoft Transact, follow these steps.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard displays the following screen to start the MariaDB configuration.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51725\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/mariadbserverconfig.png\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Figure 13. <\/em><strong><em>MariaDB Server Configuration<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Complete the window as follows:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Enter the user name and password for an account that has the rights to create databases on the MariaDB server.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the server name or IP address and port for the MariaDB server.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Application DB Name<\/strong>, <strong>Report DB Name<\/strong>, and <strong>Report Archive DB Name<\/strong> fields are prepopulated with the default values shown in the figure above.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> to display the <strong>Database Login Configuration<\/strong> dialog.<br \/>\n<strong>Note: <\/strong>The Install Wizard performs a check of the database connectivity. An error message will display if the database is unreachable.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51726\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/databaseloginconfig.png\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Figure 14. <\/em><strong><em>Database Login Configuration<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Specify login credentials that will be used as the service account to connect Ephesoft Transact and the databases at runtime.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to <a href=\"#post-51712-_heading=h.z337ya\">Configure OpenOffice<\/a> to proceed with the Install Wizard.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><a id=\"post-51712-_heading=h.35nkun2\"><\/a>Microsoft SQL Server Configuration<\/h4>\n<p>Before you configure Microsoft SQL Server, refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/2019-2\/install-upgrade-single-and-multi-server\/installing-on-windows\/additional-resources\/installing-ephesoft-transact-v-4-5-0-0-on-windows-server-2012r2-windows-8-and-higher\/\">Prerequisites for Configuring Transact with Microsoft SQL Server<\/a>, and complete the steps.
