Before proceeding, review the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/release-notes\/2022-1-01\">2022.1.01 Release Notes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr style=\"color: #ffffff;background-color: #1f3864\">\n<th style=\"text-align: left\">Installation Task<\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\">General Scope of Activity<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"#post-51838-_heading=h.3dy6vkm\">Prerequisites<\/a><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\">Prepare for upgrade by gathering the required resources and verifying that the environment and databases are supported.<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"#post-51838-_heading=h.2s8eyo1\">Prepare the Server for Upgrade<\/a><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\">Perform these steps to prepare the server for the upgrade Install Wizard.<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#d9e2f3\">\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"#post-51838-_heading=h.44sinio\">Obtain and Launch the Install Wizard Package<\/a><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\">Launch the 2022.1.01 Install Wizard with the Windows Command Prompt. Complete all settings and dialogs as prompted.<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"#post-51838-_heading=h.2p2csry\">License and Launch Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01<\/a><\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left\">Perform these steps to complete the upgrade for Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01.<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<\/table>\n<h1><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.3dy6vkm\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/h1>\n<p><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.1t3h5sf\"><\/a> Perform these steps for a successful software upgrade and startup:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine if you need to perform a single-server or multi-server upgrade. The upgrade requires approximately 10GB for disk space.<br \/>\n<strong>Important:<\/strong> Steps unique to a multi-server environment upgrade are identified where applicable throughout this document. Follow the instructions and adjust as necessary if upgrading on a multi-server environment.<\/li>\n<li>Verify that the existing installation of Ephesoft Transact is supported for direct upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01.\n<ul>\n<li>If the system is currently running Ephesoft Transact version 2022.1.00, your system is supported for direct upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01.<br \/>\n<strong>Note: <\/strong>After the upgrade, reinstallation is recommended for the AI Table Rule Builder and Cloud OCR (Advanced HOCR) plugins.<\/li>\n<li>If the system is currently running a release prior to Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.00, you will need to upgrade to version 2022.1.00 before upgrading to Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01.<br \/>\n<strong>Important:<\/strong> If you are required to perform an intermediate upgrade, then you must successfully start Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.00 before upgrading to version 2022.1.01 or the upgrade process will fail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/platform-configurations-and-third-party-integrations\/\">Platform Configuration and Third-Party Integrations<\/a> and reference the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/install-and-upgrade\/system-requirements\/platform-configurations-and-third-party-integrations\/#ephesoft-transact-2022-1-00-and-above\">2022.1.00 and Above<\/a> table to verify that Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01 is supported on your operating system.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.jnlutfcfoyqk\"><\/a>Installation Instructions<\/h1>\n<h2><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.2s8eyo1\"><\/a>Prepare the Server for Upgrade<\/h2>\n<p><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.17dp8vu\"><\/a> Perform these steps to prepare the server for an upgrade to Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.3rdcrjn\"><\/a> Stop Ephesoft Transact, whether running as an application or service:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>To stop Ephesoft Transact when running as an application, close the Java Console in which Ephesoft Transact is running (as shown in the screenshot below) by pressing <strong>CTRL + C<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"978\" height=\"402\" class=\"wp-image-51844\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/word-image-51838-1-1.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/word-image-51838-1-1.png 978w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/word-image-51838-1-1-300x123.png 300w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/word-image-51838-1-1-768x316.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 978px) 100vw, 978px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Figure 1. Ephesoft Transact Command Prompt<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>Windows Task<\/strong> <strong>Manager<\/strong> and click <strong>End Task<\/strong> to terminate the following processes, if they were not terminated:\n<ul>\n<li>soffice.exe<\/li>\n<li>soffice.bin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.26in1rg\"><\/a> To stop Ephesoft Transact when running as a service, perform these steps:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>In the Windows Control Panel, browse to <strong>Services &gt; Desktop App<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the <strong>Services<\/strong> utility and run as administrator. The <strong>Services (Local) <\/strong>screen displays. Sample Illustration of the Windows <\/em><strong><em>Services<\/em><\/strong><em> Utility<\/em><\/li>\n<li>If the <strong>EphesoftTransact<\/strong> service is running, right-click <strong>EphesoftTransact<\/strong>, and click <strong>Stop<\/strong>. The service stops.<\/li>\n<li>Close the Windows Service Control utility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Close all open files inside the existing Ephesoft installation directory.<\/li>\n<li><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.lnxbz9\"><\/a> Ensure that the target Windows installation drive has enough space for extraction of the installer setup file and the backup files that the installer will create. Depending on the size of the existing Ephesoft Transact instance, you may require 10GB of space for the installation.<\/li>\n<li>Log onto the Windows system and set the User Access Control (UAC) to <strong>Never notify<\/strong>. Do the following:<br \/>\n<strong>Important<\/strong>: This is a temporary setting, and you must re-enable UAC after completing the installation.<\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>From the Windows <strong>Start<\/strong> menu, search for <strong>User Access Control<\/strong> or <strong>UAC<\/strong>. The Windows Control Panel displays the link. You will be prompted to confirm this setting.<\/li>\n<li>Accept the changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>If you previously installed Ephesoft Transact using a Windows service account and you want to use that same account after the upgrade, ensure you know that account&#8217;s credentials (username and password) before starting the upgrade procedure.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You are now ready to obtain and launch the Install Wizard.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.44sinio\"><\/a>Obtain and Launch the Install Wizard Package<\/h2>\n<p>Perform these steps to download and launch the Ephesoft Transact Install Wizard:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/products\/transact\/download\/\">Downloads<\/a> page for information on how to obtain the Ephesoft Transact installer.<\/li>\n<li>Download the Ephesoft Transact Installer. This is a zipped file with the following filename: <strong>Ephesoft_Transact_&lt;Version Number&gt;_Windows.zip<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Extract all contents of the zip file to a temporary location. Installer Package Contents<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.2jxsxqh\"><\/a> If you are logged in as the Administrator, right-click <strong>Ephesoft_2022.1.01 <\/strong>and click <strong>Install.<\/strong> Otherwise, open the Windows Command Prompt as an Administrator. Navigate to the directory where you extracted the installer zip file, then execute the following command to download the Windows installer package:<br \/>\n<a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.z337ya\"><\/a><code>msiexec.exe \/i Ephesoft_2022.1.01.msi<\/code><\/li>\n<li>After you launch the Windows installer package, the Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.01 Setup screen appears. The <strong>Next<\/strong> button will be disabled while the installer determines if there is enough disk space to install the software.<br \/>\n<strong>Note: <\/strong>As a reminder, you will need approximately 10GB of disk space for the upgrade. If you need to make space available for the upgrade, remove any files and apps that you no longer need.<br \/>\nIf there is sufficient disk space, the Ephesoft Transact 2022.1.00 Setup screen will refresh and the <strong>Next<\/strong> button will be enabled. If a warning displays in the above screen, click <strong>Details<\/strong> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>The following is an example of this type of message:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJAVA_HOME environment variable is already defined. This will get modified during Transact installation. If you do not want this to happen, please cancel the installation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> when the prerequisites check is acceptable. A<strong> Download<\/strong> button will display. Follow these steps:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Click <strong>Download<\/strong> and go to the appropriate link.<\/li>\n<li>Download and install the .NET 4.5.2 Framework.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the instructions in the .NET 4.5.2 Framework installer to complete the installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you have completed the installation of .NET 4.5.2 Framework, continue to the next step.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>. Continue to <a href=\"#post-51838-_heading=h.qsh70q\">Define Service Credentials<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><a id=\"post-51838-_heading=h.qsh70q\"><\/a>Configure Service Credentials and Database<\/h3>\n<p>If you are running the Ephesoft Transact Server as a Windows service, the Install Wizard prompts you to choose which service account to use. It is recommended to use the same Windows account that was used to install your previous version of Ephesoft Transact.
