{"id":12587,"date":"2017-11-01T19:03:31","date_gmt":"2017-11-02T02:03:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/?p=12587"},"modified":"2020-08-27T15:57:42","modified_gmt":"2020-08-27T22:57:42","slug":"unable-to-start-ephesoft-transact-as-a-windows-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/unable-to-start-ephesoft-transact-as-a-windows-service\/","title":{"rendered":"KB0019558: Unable to Start Ephesoft Transact as a Windows Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Topic\/Category:<\/strong>\u00a0Windows Services, Ephesoft Service<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ephesoft Version: 4x<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Issue:<\/strong>\u00a0Windows Service Not Starting Even After Reinstalling Service Manually with Batch File<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There may be times where you cannot get the Ephesoft service to start in Windows, even after following the steps to uninstall and reinstall the Ephesoft service using the <strong>uninstall-services.bat<\/strong> and the <strong>install-ephesoft-services.bat<\/strong> files found in \\Ephesoft\\JavaAppServer folder (See KB Article #\u00a09390).<\/p>\n<p>If you go into the \\Ephesoft\\JavaAppServer\\logs folder and see this message inside the &#8216;<strong>commons-daemon<\/strong>&#8216; log file:<\/p>\n<p><strong>[error] Failed creating java<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then you are likely seeing an issue with a missing or incorrect path to the required .Java Virtual Machine dll<\/p>\n<p>To resolve, navigate to the \\Ephesoft\\JavaAppServer\\bin folder and right click the <strong>EphesoftEnterprise.exe<\/strong> or\u00a0<strong>EphesoftTransact.exe <\/strong>(name will change depending on the version of Ephesoft installed)\u00a0and select &#8216;run as administrator.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Go to the Java tab once open and confirm that the path to the Java Virtual Machine is not selected to &#8216;use default&#8217; and has a value pointing to the jvm.dll like the screenshot below:<\/p>\n<p>If you do not see an entry, you can click on the ellipsis and manually update the path to your \\Ephesoft\\Dependencies\\jdk\\jre\\bin\\server\\jvm.dll (for Ephesoft version 4.5 onward) or \\Ephesoft\\Dependencies\\jdk1.8.0_102\\jre\\bin\\server\\jvm.dll (for earlier versions of Ephesoft 4.1)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jvm2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12593 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jvm2.png\" alt=\"jvm2\" width=\"5784\" height=\"2982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jvm2.png 5784w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jvm2-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jvm2-768x396.png 768w, https:\/\/ephesoft.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jvm2-1024x528.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5784px) 100vw, 5784px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Topic\/Category:\u00a0Windows Services, Ephesoft Service Ephesoft Version: 4x Issue:\u00a0Windows Service Not Starting Even After Reinstalling Service Manually with Batch File &nbsp;
