Annie Kang, Product Manager

Employee Spotlight: Annie Kang4 months at Ephesoft

Being recruited by an Ephesoft board member and successful entrepreneur can be perceived as flattery as well as confirmation that you’re doing something right. Annie’s impressive educational background from attending University of California, Los Angeles with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering followed by achieving dual degrees for a MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a MBA from the MIT School of Engineering and Sloan School of Management, helped to prepare and guide her career path.

After completing her advanced education, Annie has worked across aerospace, semiconductors, and healthcare in engineering, product, and account roles, which gave her a diverse and well-rounded business experience. When Joe Kaiser, Director of Mercato Partners and Ephesoft Board Member reached out to Annie, she was “drawn to the high potential for impact at Ephesoft.” She met with the executive and product management teams and was quickly hired.

“Ephesoft is a place where I can cumulatively leverage my background,” explained Annie. “It’s a global organization that caters to different verticals. On top of that, I also like the growth stage of the company. It’s an exciting time to work here.” So far, Ephesoft is the smallest company she’s worked for and it’s a refreshing change. Working for a smaller company, with about 160 employees worldwide, speeds up the level of familiarity with coworkers.

Annie appreciates how encouraging Ephesoft is when it comes to educating employees and promoting learning. “It makes me feel like Ephesoft is helping me to be successful at the company as well as investing in my career. Although I’ve only been here for a few months, I’ve already had the chance to attend an internal product training, a Pragmatic Marketing class and BoxWorks, and visit customers. I just got back from an IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals), the largest global privacy conference, and am looking forward to attending AWS re:Invent later this year.”

Her role as a Product Manager involves everything from identifying problems in the market, prioritizing features in the product roadmap, outlining requirements, working with engineering on product development as well as working with marketing to ensure successful launches. While this is an exciting, fast-paced role, finding balance between all of the projects is necessary. “It’s a privilege getting to impact and influence product at Ephesoft, but also challenging to allocate the right time to dedicate to each project.” Annie contributes her efforts across Ephesoft Transact 4Mortgage, Invoicing, Mobile, and the emerging Cloud roadmap.

In her free time, she volunteers in several community and educational organizations. Currently, she is the Steering Committee Chair for the alumni group Women of Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) and mentors UCLA students. Annie is also a big sister to a 10-year-old girl in Orange County as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and finds it rewarding to give her perspective on many topics while doing fun activities with her mentee.
