Ephesoft Transact Selected by Federal Government Agency for Mailroom Application to Classify and Extract Data from over 60 Million Documents Annually
Washington, DC May 23, 2016 – Ephesoft Inc., announced today that it has received a contract from an Agency within the United States Treasury Department to provide its Smart Capture® solution to process over 60 million documents annually. The multi-year contract is valued at over $3 million.
The five-year project was awarded after an extensive proof of concept and project review conducted by the agency to replace a legacy document capture application. The new system, based on Ephesoft Transact, Ephesoft’s advanced capture solution for document classification and data extraction, will be employed by the agency primarily to process “Offers in Compromise” cases, which are negotiated settlements that involve taxpayer correspondence.
The US Treasury Agency selected the Ephesoft solution based on the following criteria: Ephesoft’s open source platform, performance on the Linux operating system, ease of integration with existing technology investments, and overall system throughput and accuracy.

The US Treasury Agency’s extensive evaluation and comparison for the project included reviewing complete taxpayer case files, receiving feedback from case workers and making a final determination based on efficiencies seen in process automation and reduced paper handling. The project is expected to go into production in the next three months.
