What’s New In Transact 4.5?
The RecoStar engine is a licensed component of Ephesoft Transact, and performed OCR on documents in the Windows environment. The license is provided on a per-core basis. That means it is based on the amount of cores used to run the software, rather than the number of authorized users.
Previously, the full-page OCR on Ephesoft Transact servers was performed on the basis of an 8-core RecoStar license. If the server had 16 cores, the application could utilize only 8 cores for OCRing, and this was impacting the performance of the entire system.
In Ephesoft Transact v.4.5.0.0, the RecoStar OCR engine allows utilization of 32 cores with an upgrade from 8-core to 32-core RecoStar license. This is done to improve performance and make sure that all available resources are used with maximum efficiency and productivity.
Important: If you are using three or more servers in a cluster, the number of IO operations on the SharedFolders with 32-core RecoStar license may increase and create a bottleneck, leading to performance drop.
To reduce this IO load from the SharedFolders, it is recommended to move the UNC folder to a separate disk (other than the one where the SharedFolders are installed).
The results of performance testing on Ephesoft Transact v.4.5.0.0 are shown below:
Results after moving the UNC folder to a separate disk:
Cluster Size | Max Process | Page Per batch | No of batch | Total Page | Start | End | Duration | PPM |
3 Processing Servers | 15 | 500 | 90 | 45000 | 02-11-2017 01:49 | 02-11-2017 02:50 | 01:01:06 | 736.50 |
3 Processing Servers | 10 | 500 | 90 | 45000 | 02-11-2017 03:58 | 02-11-2017 04:59 | 01:00:56 | 738.51 |
