What’s New?

We are pleased to introduce the following new features in Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.02:

Identification Extraction Integration

Only available on Windows

Identification (ID) Extraction quickly captures and extracts information from document types, such as passports, driver licenses, and more, from your batch class without setting up extraction rules. The ID Extraction plugin is available as part of our QuickScreen Solution. Please contact your sales representative for more details on how to purchase this.

For more information on how to configure and integrate the ID Extraction plugin, refer to the following article:

Native Handprint Extraction and Mark Recognition

Only available on Windows

Key-value extraction is an integral part of the Ephesoft Transact workflow, leveraging OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to scan and extract machine-printed text. You can now leverage ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) and OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) software natively to extract hand-printed text and marks, including the following use cases:

  • Bounded or constrained hand-printed text
  • Signature detection
  • Checkbox detection

For more information on how to configure key-value extraction for hand-printed text, refer to the following article:

S3 Import Plugin

The S3 Import plugin connects Ephesoft Transact with an Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 bucket as an ingestion point to create an efficient processing workflow. Once configured, the plugin monitors the S3 bucket every minute for new files, uploads the new files into your batch class, and removes them from the S3 bucket after processing.

For more information on how to configure this plugin, refer to the following article:

Feature Enhancements

The following enhancements were added to the existing Ephesoft Transact features below:

Pickup Services Improvements

The pickup service better distributes batch instances across all processing servers in a clustered environment in cases where jobs are queued below the maximum capacity of the environment. The following improvements have also been made to the pickup services feature:

  • The wait time between picking up batches is reduced from 5 seconds to 500–5,000 milliseconds.
  • Batches now alternate between servers in a round-robin method.

For more information on the pickup service, including recommended settings and configurations, refer to the following article:

Office365 Authentication

Ephesoft Transact now supports the transition from Basic Authentication to Modern Authentication, or the implementation of Open Authorization 2.0 (OAuth 2.0), for Exchange Online accounts. OAuth 2.0 has been added as an authentication type in the email configuration process to support email importing from Exchange Online accounts.

For more information on how to configure your email account with OAuth2 in Ephesoft Transact, refer to the following articles:

Folder Management Security Enhancement

Ephesoft Transact 2020.1.02 introduces new security measures for uploading files from Folder Management. Two new properties have been added to the dcma-core.properties file to enable or disable uploading files from Folder Management:

security.enabled.file.upload.download
security.enabled.scripts.folders

By default, uploading files from Folder Management is now disabled. Refer to KB00020735 for steps to enable this action.
