Product Lifecycle Policy

This document describes the product lifecycle, availability and end of life policy for Ephesoft solutions.

Ephesoft Lifecycle Milestones

Ephesoft provides the following milestones during the product lifecycle:

  • Product Launch
  • End of Marketing
  • End of Sale
  • End of Support (Product Withdrawal)

Product Launch

This occurs when a product is launched and available for purchase.  This is the formal launch and availability of the software release and includes a formal Product Announcement with webinars (when applicable). Webinars may include:

  • Transfer of Information — Ephesoft Employees
  • Partner Technical Briefing — Ephesoft Certified Partners
  • Customer Product Briefing — Licensed Ephesoft Customers

Once Ephesoft launches a product, it is available for purchase for new installation, and (when applicable) as an upgrade or add-on to an existing system.

End of Marketing

This milestone marks the end of marketing of a specific version of a product or (where indicated) an entire product.  This milestone is accompanied by an announcement that provides a 12-month notice of the upcoming End of Support for of this version of the product.

Following this milestone, customers may purchase modifications to an existing license (such as additional server capacity) or additional licenses (such as development or testing servers) for an existing deployment but not for licenses for a new installation.

While Ephesoft will continue to support the product version, Ephesoft recommends that customers begin planning an upgrade to a more recent version once they have been advised of a product’s End of Marketing. This upgrade should be completed within 12 months of the End of Marketing date.

End of Sale

This milestone marks the end availability of licenses for a specific product version to be purchased. At this point, modifications to an existing license (e.g. additional server capacity) or additional licenses (such as development or testing servers) may not be purchased. This will normally occur six months after the End of Marketing.

Ephesoft will continue to support the product version, but customers are strongly advised to upgrade to a more recent version as soon as possible, as they will have only six months to do so before this version is no longer supported.

End of Support (Product Withdrawal)

This milestone occurs when the product version is no longer supported, six months after End of Sale. This means that no further Ephesoft patches or hotfixes will be issued for this version. To receive assistance with troubleshooting issues, the customer may be required to upgrade to a version that is still currently supported.
